Software Freedom Day Eve

Software Freedom Day Eve on Friday, Sept. 19 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Cabrillo College

The Cabrillo College GNU/Linux Users Group, giving the GNU its due while bringing GNU/Linux and Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) to the college and the community since 2007, is proud to be a participant in Software Freedom Day 2008.

Software Freedom Day kicked off the 2008 installfests for the Fall Semester at the college on Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the CIS Lab, room 2504 on the lower campus. About 25 people came and found out about GNU/Linux and FOSS.

We raffled off the shirts that we received from SFD -- thanks SFD! -- as well as the book Free Software, Free Society by Richard Stallman. All the CDs and stickers were used and a great time was had by all.

Cabrillo College is the home of Seahawk GNU/Linux, a distro currently being developed on campus by CIS students.
