The Limestone Coast group is an expansion of the 2007 Mount Gambier team.
Instead of basing the group in the regional city we are now spreading out to smaller townships to help spread the word.
2008 will be held in the historic township of Penola in the heart of the Limestone Coast wine region (the Coonawarra is a 5km trip down the road).
The township includes the famous Toffee's and Treats of Penola (historic lolly shop), Never Too Old (renown antique dealer) and a scattering of cafe's and restaurants to tempt the taste buds.
For those on a historic bent, you may chose to visit the Mary McKillop Centre and find out about her life's work. There is also a history walk to discover more about the town.
Anyway this is about Software Freedom Day
The 2008 Team will be based at Penola High School and will focus on six basic stations, Operating Systems, Media - Creation, Office, Productivity, Home and Other. People will then be able to wonder around to the various stations and discover what is on offer.
There may also be one or two presentations throughout the day on using specific software.
There is amble accommodation in town for those wishing to help out (from B&B's to Motels) and I can guarantee a good visit. The team will have a meal at one of the fine local restaurants the night before SFD.
More details on organisation of the event, here shortly.
