Limestone Coast 2009

The Limestone Coast group is an expansion of the 2007 Mount Gambier team.

Software Freedom Day is annual event held in over 90 countries all around the world in an effort to educate the public about the benefits of Free and Open Source Software. What is FOSS or Free Software? It is software that has been licensed in a manner that allows users to run it for any purpose, to redistribute copies to others, to change the software to suit their needs and to redistribute those changes as well. When we say Free Software, think of free as in speech, rather than free as in beer.

This year we thought that we would hold our Software Freedom Day event back in Mount Gambier, it is the regional centre of the Limestone Coast in the South East & is one of the most progressive regional communities in the State of South Australia.

Software Freedom Day ;-) The 2009 Team will host this years event at Grant High School and will focus on Open Source Gaming, Office Applications & Productivity, Home Networking & Programming for beginners & Kids. People will be able to wonder around to the various stations and discover what is on offer.

There may also be one or two presentations throughout the day on using specific software.
